yoga is a journey not a destination, find joy in your journey
Small mixed abyoga classes focused around functional movements with the aim to progress over several weeks. Each class aims to strengthen the mind body connection and encourage awareness which can be applied outside a yoga class too. These can be ideal for people looking for gentle yoga classes and yoga for beginners.
We will start by settling into the class and then some gentle movement where we build from the floor, into some more challenging standing movements before coming back down to the floor, we will be working on strengthening the mind body connection and the importance of breath. Most of us will experience mental health challenges throughout our life and being able to understand and acknowledge our bodies responses can be beneficial to help us become more mindful and develop skills to help us handle stress in a way less harmful to ourselves, we spend so much time thinking and in our head, yoga classes can be a great way to encourage the mind to take a back seat.
What's in store for the main asana (posture) section of our practice? The main section is predominantly standing but we will move from standing to the floor and back again challenging our balance as we go.
We will bring the class to a close in a tradition way, with some relaxation in śavāsana (corpse pose).
The focus will be exploring movement, the classes will be at a steady pace to enable us to work through the physical (asana) practice and discover how to move best for you. As we progress through the weeks we will add in new elements to develop our practice and get an opportunity to explore a little deeper.
You know your body better than anyone else and I am there to help you strengthen your yoga practice. There will be props available and encouragement to use them as we explore the physical (asana) aspect of yoga.

I have completed a foundation course with the British Wheel of Yoga to create underpinning knowledge of my own practice before starting the OFQUAL 300 hour level 4 certificate teacher training. I trained with the British Wheel of Yoga for 3 years before receiving my qualification and continue my professional development within the organisation.
Absolutely not. Contrary to popular belief yoga is not about being flexible. Movement is wonderful for the body and your body does not care if you are flexible or not and all the benefits will still be there.
My classes are focused towards people wanting to develop or start a yoga practice. We will have a curious and gentle approach concentrating towards our mind body connection. We will move to and from the floor during class, if you have any concerns about coming onto the floor please let me know.
If you already have a yoga / exercise mat, bricks / blocks and a strap / belt you're welcome to bring them with you. Do not worry if you do not have any equipment, there will be equipment provided.
You do not need to be spiritual to practice yoga, people come to yoga for many reasons and there is no right or wrong.
Something comfortable and that does not restrict movement. You can wear layers to add / remove throughout the practice. Things like socks can be useful to put on for relaxation towards the end.
